Windows 11 KB5012643 released - here's everything new and improved

Image
KB5012643 is now available for Windows 11 with a few noteworthy changes and a range of additional bug fixes. The update is rolling out via Windows Update and WSUS, but you can also download the offline installers of Windows 11 KB5012643. The offline installers are particularly helpful when users are unable to install the patch via the traditional methods. Windows 11 KB5012643 is an optional cumulative preview update and it is designed to test the changes set to ship with May 2022 Patch Tuesday updates. Like the rest of the optional updates, this cumulative update won’t download and install automatically unless you check for updates and manually start the download. This optional cumulative update is not a huge release unlike the March 2022 optional update, but there are several quality improvements. For example, Microsoft has added a new feature that would display the temperature on top of the weather icon which was added to the taskbar with the April 2022 Update. Microsoft has fi...

Picsart’s Free Photo Editing Tools Are Now Integrated into Google Drive

Image
Picsart has announced that its entire web-based photo editor is available directly integrated into Google Drive. The app enables users to edit Google Drive images in Picsart’s Web Editor and save them back to Drive in one connected interface. Picsart, which is mostly known for its wildly popular smartphone app, expanded with a web-based photo editor in October of 2020. The company has worked with Google to make those tools available as Drive extension. This enables users to edit images using Picsart’s engine without having to leave the Drive platform. Integration within Drive means direct access to a host of editing capabilities including background removal, templates, filters, effects, stickers, and text. In short, if it’s available in Picsart’s browser editor, it’s available in Google Drive. Picsart says that the integration with Google Drive is part of a wider push to better serve the creator economy at large and comes after Picsart rebranded last year to appeal to this audien...

Smartphone Brands in India Donated Rs 41+ Crores, 160,000+ Masks & 7050+ PPE Suits

The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has brought the smartphone production to a grinding halt with lockdown all over. Even smartphone sales became stagnant as the Government is allowing only the sales of essential products to curb the spread of the virus. However, smartphone brands have been actively involved in raising more awareness about the virus. As per the information available on the internet, the majority of the smartphone brands have donated funds along with supplying essential medical equipment like masks and PPE suites. Most of the brands even extended the warranties on their product for 2-3 months. HUAWEI Huawei, the popular Chinese telecommunications company, had actively participated in curbing the Coronavirus when it initially started spreading in China. Recently, the company has donated Rs 7 crore towards the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PMCares Fund) and six other local state governments. According to Economictimes, the...

Google will kill call recording apps on Android for good starting May 11

Image
A Google Play policy change will effectively render third-party call recording apps useless starting May 11. Google recently made some changes to its Play Store Policy that come into effect starting May 11. One of those changes aims to kill call recording apps on Android for good. As noted by Reddit user NLL Apps, this particular policy change affects the use of the Accessibility API by app developers. Google states, “The Accessibility API is not designed and cannot be requested for remote call audio recording.” Google also clarified the policy in a developer webinar streamed live just a few hours ago. Google has been slowly deprecating and removing APIs that enable call recording over several Android versions. The company does this in the name of privacy and security and also because call recording laws are so varied across different countries. In Android 10, Google blocked call recording by default. So to circumvent the restriction, Play Store apps started using the Accessibility API...

How to enable God Mode on Windows 11, and what is it?

Image
Windows 11 introduced a new Settings app, which is the way Microsoft wants most users to change settings on their PC. The Settings app has a modern UI and it provides a wide range of options for users to tailor their PC experience, but it’s not exactly a perfect replacement for the classic Control Panel. If you want to access those old Control Panel options, there’s a feature often referred to as God Mode in Windows 11, which gives you quick access to over 200 settings in a very intuitive way. God Mode in Windows 11 (as well as previous versions of Windows) is simply a folder that contains shortcuts to most or all of the options available in the Control Panel. It’s useful because it makes all of those shortcuts quickly available without having to navigate the potentially confusing interface of the Control Panel. All the items are sorted and grouped so they’re easy enough to find. If you’re wondering how to enable this feature yourself, we’re here to help. How to enable God Mode in Wind...

The Android versus iPhone debate continues to rumble on. But one thing is certain: Google’s phone software is more versatile and customizable than Apple’s offering. Dig into the settings and tweaks available for your Android phone and you’ll find a host of clever features and useful tools. We’ve collected 10 of them right here. A quick note before we begin: Android has a wide variety of makes, models, and versions, which makes it more difficult to find features that will be consistent across all devices. We only verified the following tips on stock Android 12—they should also work on related systems, but some of the menus and procedures may vary slightly. 1. Cast your Android screen For a number of years, you’ve been able to broadcast your Android phone or tablet’s display to the larger screen of a television using a Chromecast. In addition to beaming video from all the usual movie and TV apps, this streaming device can mirror your phone. Take advantage of a mirroring shortcut in the Q...

Google Photos’ unlimited storage is back, but there’s a catch

Image
Around this time last year, Google ended its free unlimited cloud storage. To the joy of some users, the option is now back! But for the rest of us, there’s a major catch that could make it impossible to get the unlimited Google storage again. As Photofocus reports, T-Mobile customers will soon be able to add unlimited cloud storage to their Google accounts. Starting from 26 April, it will be a part of a Google One plan that offers 2TB plus unlimited Google Photos storage. As you could probably assume, this option will be paid extra. In my opinion, it’s not even cheap – it will cost you $15 a month. Still, it’s currently the only way to get unlimited Google Photos storage, so it could actually be handy and worth the money to some of you. But what about the rest of us who don’t even have T-Mobile in their country (yup, that would be me)? Or those who simply don’t want to pay extra for unlimited Google storage? Where, there certainly are some alternatives to look into, many of which are ...
